We did not have a good experience at all. To live a happy, healthy life: eat sensibly, exercise, talk and laugh as much as possible. We found that the notes they take down are not always accurate: they don't always listen to their patients: they treat you like you have no understanding. Doctors discuss one thing with you, and then make their decisions after taking you on a wild goose chase; we have felt like idiots on quite a few occasions. Not all the staff are pleasant: we have met with very rude Doctors: also Doctors that have made things sound worse than they are: so obviously that is added stress on a difficult situation. If you complain, be careful they don't try to subtly get you back; one doctor was trying to make out that I was being over anxious: when your child drops down from 10st to 5st 13lbs in a very short amount of time and has a list of symptoms, of course we were concerned: and one nice doctor remarked she had the skin of an old woman. Our daughter after all the messing around the doctors did, got herself back on her feet; we had many possible diagnoses, and the phrase "we don't know". We have had a few bum deals over the years regarding this hospital. Doctors need to take the time to talk to their patients and listen: a bit of empathy also wouldn't be a bad idea. The Concerns team took our feelings into account as well as our concerns: we became an open book, because we wanted to help our daughter; I sent pictures, information about us as a family. Our daughter was sent for a upper gastro-endoscopy, the doctor who had referred us said they probably wouldn't find anything: they did,it was termed as mild chronic gastritis, lower-loose oesophageal sphincter, which played a part in the acid reflux. We weren't treated well at the hospital, where we took our daughter for the endoscopy; and when we told the above doctor: she said, "what did you expect?" We have always taken our children to Doctors, dentists, and optician appointments; our son did ENT appointments and was wrongfully discharged twice before getting the adenoids, tonsils and grommet procedure done. My husband was turned away when he had a chest infection, I had to make a GP appointment; in the past he has suffered from spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung), so getting a chest infection isn't a good thing for him: the nurse prescribed antibiotics and an inhaler. Our son's waiting for Dermatology:. one of the doctors wouldn't prescribe him something for the large bleeding, weeping Acne legions he had on his face and body. I have read other people's reviews and granted they perhaps are a lot more serious, but it's the attitude of some of these doctor's that makes you wonder if the NHS is all it's cracked-up to be.

this review is just about the mammogram department, I think it was unit B, in glan-clwyd hospital, the staff were very nice and put me at ease as soon as I went into the room, I was very nervous so their caring attitude at the beginning helped me relax which was really good. I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to DR BADMUS and DR AHMAD for looking after me and for explaining to me each part of my procedure they were both brilliant. also a BIG THANK YOU to CATHY the lovely nurse who also looked after me very well. and last but not least SELINA AND LAUREN who were also part of this really nice unit of staff. BIG THANK YOU TOO ALL OF YOU.

I am only talking about the mammogram and scan I have recently had, as I have not had good help at all from other departments in this hospital. I recently had a mammogram the lady who did the mammogram made me feel at ease which was really nice, she was nice and friendly, so thumbs up to her. I went back a few weeks later for a mammogram ultra sound and the staff that were in the room with me looking after me were all really lovely as well and made me feel at ease especially the two members of staff that were actually doing the ultra sound and the member of staff that walked out of the room with me to show me where the changing room was. thanks guys to all of you for just being nice. good luck and take care.

I'd like to compliment the staff on the door at entrance B. They happily helped my husband who was having problems with breathing by finding a wheelchair and chatting amiably whisked him down to CT scan. When I returned I realised I had left my bag in the waiting room and they volunteered to push me back to CT to collect it. Such a pleasant and happy couple eased any stress of attending

My wife was admitted to Glan Clwyd hospital in September 2020. This was after a previous stay from February to June at which time she contracted Covid 19 on the ward. After discharge she never really picked up. In September she was on Ward One. Telephone calls frequently went unanswered. When a call was answered, information was sparse and frequently differed from one staff member to another including Doctors. One Doctor stated she was improving and would be considered for discharge soon. The next day a different Doctor stated that that was not the case and she wasn’t responding to treatment. I suggested that she be sent home but he insisted on trying another antibiotic. At the end of September I received a call stating that we could visit as she was unlikely to recover. On October 3rd she died. The care she received varied from poor to adequate at best. On one occasion, my daughter asked if she could be made more comfortable. On removing the bed covers, my Wife was found to be lying in her own urine. The lack of dignity afforded my Wife was painful to experience. Had she been sent home her treatment and care, although not professional would have been considerably better and whatever the outcome she would have been afforded the dignity denied to her in this hospital. Shame on you and your medical and nursing staff. Hero’s? Not in my opinion or that of my family and friends.

Having been driven to the hospital by three wonderful caring paramedics, I was given an examination to check my heart; and a blood test. Once the staff were obviously satisfied that I was in no immediate danger I was moved into the A& E waiting room. The staff were extremely busy, but I was informed as to how long I would need to wait before being taken to the doctor. Whilst waiting to speak to the doctor a nurse was kind enough to bring warm drinks to all the patients waiting, which I thought was most kind; since they were obviously under pressure with the volume of patients Having been called for my appointment the young female doctor could not have been more kind, she listened with great care, and was most thorough in the examination given. I cannot thank and praise both the ambulance service and the hospital staff enough, they were wonderful, and it is comforting to know that we have such caring, dedicated and professional men and women looking after our health in this area. i would gladly leave a review for the doctor who took my case had I known her name.

Terrible service, inpolite staff all sat about doing nothing, ask someone a question amd that is when you will find out noone has a clue what is going on. Every single door and handle was covered in visible smears, absolutely shocking

I can not thank the staff at glan clwyd enough, for not only saving my life literally, but diagnosing me and treating me quickly and efficiently with the upmost curtesy and respect that every member of the hospitals staff from the consultants, the ordinary doctors, the nursing and health care workers to even the cleaning crews and porters. Even the kitchen staff made sure thar every detail of my care and welfare was attended to. I am now on the way to a full recovery from two types of cancer and I am looking forward to getting on with the rest of my life thanks to everyone at glan clwyd hospital. So with a heart felt Thankyou keep up the great work and help other people to live and have a rewarding life. Yours sincerely, miss Suzanne swift.

My stay was thankfully, brief, but having had another experience in a hospital in Liverpool to make comparisons with, I can say that YGC gave far and away the better care in every way. The nurses treated me with kindness and respect, the doctors were professional and the food was not just edible, but fresh and hot and tasty and well cooked. Well done.
